Some important information for Future Flooding Preparedness:

Due to the May 2020 dam failures the path, flow, rise and forecasting of the Tittabawassee River have changed along with the ability to accurately predict when specific areas will flood.

Midland County Emergency Management in coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers and the National Weather Service are advising residents that live in the areas impacted by river flooding to expect and prepare for the river to rise and crest faster than it has in previous flooding events.

Because of the limited predictability in the forecasting of river levels, it will be important to monitor the weather forecasts and get public safety alerts during rain, storm and flooding events.

It's important to note that the hydro graph predictions may not reflect actual experiences moving forward. Midland County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will continue to monitor the river during weather events so that future adjustments can be made to predictions and forecasts as they learn the new behavior of the river in our area.
